Call Sign: Dustoff 34 is the gripping true story of a decorated Vietnam War pilot who flew life-or-death medical evacuation missions in the heart of a combat zone. At just 22 years old, he piloted unarmed helicopters into the jungle under enemy fire, risking everything to rescue the wounded. Each mission carried the threat of being shot down or killed, but the crew lived by one unshakable motto: "So Others May Live." With vivid detail and raw honesty, Dustoff 34 brings to life the courage, sacrifice, and unbreakable brotherhood behind the evacuation of over 900,000 patients-more than the population of many U.S. cities. This is not just a war story-it's a testament to heroism in its purest form.

Follow the journey of Dustoff 34 as he found his calling in delivering the "Gift of Life" to countless others. Experience how he became one of the 3,400 courageous Dustoff crew members of the Vietnam War honored with the prestigious Congressional Gold Medal --the highest civilian recognition awarded by Congress. His powerful story brings the war into sharp focus, revealing its harsh realities and the unflinching bravery of those who lived it.

Dustoff 34

I am a fellow Dustoff pilot and was assigned to the 45th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at the same time that Doug Petersen was there. I found his book to be well written and captured many of the routine and not so routine aspects of what we experienced during our year in Vietnam. I congratulate Doug on taking the time to write this book. I highly recommend this book to those wanting to learn more about what our Dustoff crews experienced in Vietnam.
